The resort consists of separate small “cities” each of which have a courtyard that include spas, fountains, artwork, outdoor fire pits, sanctuaries, reflecting pools, and desert botanical gardens.
Connecting all of the cities is a series of walkways, all blending into the “Old Road,” a cobblestone boulevard evocative of southwestern trade roads used for centuries.
Materials such as native flagstone walls, stucco adobe facades, iron railing and burnt red tile roofs were used to blend the cities and spa into the surrounding rock outcropping and vegetation. Exterior colors were selected to match and complement the granite, quartz, and river rock which are indigenous to the site.- ClientPRINCETON RESORTS GROUP

Chanen provided construction management/ general contracting services for a second temporary casino location for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC). This larger version was located approximately six miles north of the first (on Indian Bend Road). Like the first temporary location, the second location was constructed of a PVC skin stretched over an aluminum frame, anchored to a concrete foundation. Cultural motifs were applied to the fabric, and steel on concrete column porte-cochere fronted the structure.
This 27,000 s.f. temporary structure housed 332 slot machines, 42 poker/table games, beverage, deli-style and full-menu table service and a lounge plus various support functions including cash processing.
The first phase of this facility was completed on schedule in March, 1999.
Subsequent to the first temporary/”sprung structure” on this same site, and due to a high demand for even more gaming and facility space; a second structure of the same type was added, along with interconnecting structures, to the existing facility increasing the s.f. an additional 35,000 s.f.
Even though the architectural team had changed between the two phased projects, Chanen remained on time and budget, completing the second phase of this facility in May, 2004.- ClientSALT RIVER PIMA-MARICOPA INDIAN COMMUNITY

This project was designed, developed, built and managed by Chanen. The $84 million hotel was constructed using innovative structural engineering concepts, which were tested during the 1989 earthquake. Since the hotel escaped the tragic earthquake virtually unscathed, the added cost for better structural stability proved to be a prudent investment.
The hotel, located near several San Francisco, California, landmarks, consists of 525 rooms, seven suites and 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting rooms including a 4,813-sq.-ft. ballroom. There are four separate buildings that are connected by pedestrian bridges at each level.

(formerly) Gila River Casino
at Wildhorse PassChandler, Arizona
Chanen was the design-builder of the $30 million Gila River Casino at Wild Horse Pass located south of Phoenix, Arizona.
Before the project began, "Visioning Process" meetings were held with members of the seven districts of the Gila River Indian Community to develop design guidelines. Through the Visioning Process, the Community established the direction for appropriate design. Community members provided continuous input during the process and critical feedback to the design-build team. The result is a low profile, earth-bermed structure that minimizes its impact on the natural desert environment.
This 167,000-sq.-ft., facility contained a 1,400-seat bingo hall featuring World Wide Bingo, 500 gaming machines, Arizona's largest poker room, three restaurants, retail space, a cultural art museum area and all necessary back-of-house operations.
The design-build team maintained total responsibility for the project from the inception of the design through completion of the casino.
Chanen's team of construction specialists supported the designers, provided estimating and value engineering, performed scheduling and constructed the project. Chanen returned over $1 million of savings to Gila River at project completion.
Chanen also developed a project-specific subcontracting plan to meet the Community's employment requirements.- ClientGILA RIVER GAMING ENTERPRISES, INC.
