DAC was brought on by the Billings School District #2 for this job, which entailed the removal of an outmoded 1958 addition, as well as the construction of 22,000 square feet of new space. With plans originally conceived more than eight years earlier, the updated design process took some creative value engineering to line up with the existing budget. A good deal of preconstruction was necessary — including the preparation of windows, piping, and ductwork – so that things could hit the ground running as soon as the school year concluded. There were plenty of unexpected obstacles (as there are with any historic building) but the whole team was able to work together to complete things smoothly and on-time.
